Agnikarma — Therapeutic Heat Application

Agnikarma — Therapeutic Heat Application

Agnikarma is an Ayurvedic para-surgical procedure that involves the controlled application of therapeutic heat to specific points or tissues using specially designed metallic instruments. Rooted in Shalya Tantra, it is used to treat localized pain, musculoskeletal disorders, and certain chronic conditions associated with Vata and Kapha doshas.

The heat is applied using tools such as the Panchadhatu Shalaka (a rod made of five metals). Agnikarma promotes pain relief by enhancing local circulation, reducing inflammation, and breaking down pathological tissue deposits without surgical intervention. Effective in sciatica, arthritis, frozen shoulder, plantar fasciitis, and tendonitis; known for immediate therapeutic effect when performed correctly.
